A PLAYFUL MUSICAL SHOW EXPLORING THE MYTHS AND TRUTHS ABOUT ITALIANS

Organized with the contribution of Società Dante Alighieri, Roma, the Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan, and the Consulate of Italy in Detroit.

Music, laughter, and emotion, this show will be a journey into the heart of Italian culture.

Arianna, together with her band, will deliver a vibrant performance enriched by projections of photographs and films she captured in her beloved Bel Paese. These elements will become the main ingredients of a unique production created by an artist who moved to America to follow her family and now divides her life between two countries.
Throughout the performance, Arianna’s personal experiences will intertwine with the story of a people, their customs, and their traditions. The show will explore myths, misunderstandings, cultural differences, and unexpected connections, revealing what is Italian in American culture and what is American in Italian culture.
From food and family to passion, chaos, and the legendary Italian hand gestures, every theme will be approached through music and comedy, transforming each song into a story.
Blending a fully sung musical performance with stand-up comedy, the show will be funny, self-ironic, heartfelt, and deeply human. It will play with stereotypes, cultural barriers, and the little nuances that often get lost in translation—including just how much can be communicated with a single gesture.

Music will remain at the center of the experience. Arianna’s moving interpretations of beloved Italian songs will serve as ambassadors of Italy’s rich musical heritage, allowing audiences to feel the emotion and meaning behind every note, even without understanding the language.
A special guest may also join the performance, bringing authentic stories and personal insights that only a true insider can offer. Their participation will add another dimension to this celebration of Italian culture, creating a one-of-a-kind blend of music, comedy, and storytelling.
By the end of the 90-minute journey, after laughing, reflecting, and recognizing themselves in what first seemed “foreign,” you may discover that something has changed, realizing just how relatable Italy can be, and how closely the Italian and American experiences often mirror one another.
